On the Fifth Sunday in Lent we catch our first glimpse of the cross as we approach Holy Week and Easter. The journey to the cross is arduous but important. As we see the cross of Christ looming ion the distance we are filled with joy for the celebration of Easter, but reach that joy we must endure much darkness before emerging into the light.
As the days of Jesus suffering and death draw near, God calls his people to renew their discipleship. As we come to our worship this Sunday we pray for grace to walk courageously in the way of the cross, committed to love one another as Christ loves us and faithfully to serve those in need.
